Relationship of Jurisprudence with Other Social Sciences

Jurisprudence is studying Law, the Law regulates the conduct of individuals, and individuals are living and forming societies. However, the Law is an important social phenomenon that is making jurisprudence a Social Science.

However, there are some other Social sciences, like Sociology, Political, Ethics, Science, Psychology, etc. Now, it is logical that this social science must be interlinked with each other at some points.

However, the social sciences could not be studied in isolation. But In other words, none of these sciences can be understood by having fair knowledge of others. Jurisprudence, being a social science, is related to other social sciences.

Jurisprudence and Sociology

Sociology is the study of Society, and Jurisprudence is the study of Law, and it is also discussed Law but from a different standpoint. Therefore, there is a relationship between jurisprudence and sociology.
Jurisprudence is concerned with legal rules that exist in society. However, sociology is studying the usefulness of those legal rules and their impacts on society.

Jurisprudence and Politics

Politics studies the principles accountable for the governmental organization. In contrast, jurisprudence is analyzing those principles.
Moreover, in a political society, there already exist rules for regulating human conduct, which is the subject matter of jurisprudence. Hence, there is a close connection or relationship between the two.

Jurisprudence and Ethics

Ethics is the science of human conduct. It projects perfectly. Human behavior, in the sense of which it suggests a course of conduct for individuals living in societies. At the same time, jurisprudence is talking about the imperative rules existing in human societies.

Moreover, those rules are also connected with the behavior of human beings in human societies. Therefore, both of the sciences are interrelated with each other. Due to these sciences' close connection and interdependency, there emerged a branch of jurisprudence known as Ethical Jurisprudence in discussing the ideal human behavior or the study of Law as it ought to be.

Jurisprudence and Psychology

Psychology is the 'science of mind and behavior,' whereas jurisprudence is discussing the Law. Law is aimed to be followed by only individuals, and individuals can only follow the Law if they intend to follow.

Therefore, the intention is the very basic element behind every Law. Particularly in criminal Law, the concept of men's rea has immense importance. Therefore, jurisprudence and psychology are closely linked to human sciences.

Jurisprudence and Economics

Economics is called the science of wealth, and jurisprudence is called the science of Law. Economics studies the production and distribution of wealth. Law is responsible for establishing a fair distribution of wealth through rules.

Moreover, studies show that economic aspects are responsible for the increasing rate of criminal activities, which again brings the two in close relation with each other.

Furthermore, economics aims to improve the standards of human lives. This could not be possible if a peaceful environment is not available, which is possible by applying laws. Therefore, there are close link relationships between these two.

Jurisprudence and History

History is the scientific narration of past events, whereas jurisprudence is the science of Law. The Law has not come into existence overnight; as a matter of fact, it has developed through ages and ages.

History helps jurisprudence in excavating out the origin and evolution of different legal rules. Owing to its importance, there developed a separate branch of jurisprudence, called Historical Jurisprudence. Therefore, it may conclude that there is a close relation between jurisprudence and history.
